Position Summary

The Young Adult & Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for creating meaningful opportunities to help young adults and young families deepen their connection to Memphis Jewish Federation and the broader Jewish community.  

Working closely with the Young Leaders Council (YLC) and community partners, this position will develop, coordinate, and execute a diverse calendar of social, educational, networking, family, and leadership programs designed to help individuals and families deepen their connection to Federation and the broader Jewish community.

This position will also support PJ Library and young family engagement, helping families build connections with one another and creating opportunities for continued engagement as their children grow.

The ideal candidate is a natural relationship-builder who enjoys bringing people together, developing creative programs, and turning new connections into lasting community involvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Young Leaders Council to develop and implement an annual calendar of programs and engagement opportunities for young Jewish adults.
  • Support YLC committees and members in developing ideas, taking ownership of programs, and growing as emerging communal leaders.
  • Help participants understand the role of philanthropy and communal leadership in strengthening Jewish Memphis.
  • Identify and cultivate individuals with the potential for deeper leadership and philanthropic involvement.
  • Coordinate local PJ Library engagement efforts and serve as a point of connection for participating families.
  • Develop pathways that help families remain connected as their children age beyond PJ Library programming.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in community engagement, nonprofit programming, event planning, relationship management, Jewish communal work, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building authentic relationships and engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously.
  • Creative, energetic, collaborative, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for programs and events.
