DR. SHIRA MALKIN, an associate professor of French in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature at Rhodes College, will be presenting "From La Victoire to A Republic of Silence". This talk will examine how today's French Jews are caught between a successful model of assimilation --symbolized by La Victoire synagogue in Paris-- and a chilling climate of indifference created by the authorities.
