Good Hygiene Helps Self-Esteem And Motivation.
Every month, some of our neighbors feel a sense of helplessness or embarrassment because they lack basic hygiene necessities. Girls are forced to stay home from school during their periods, missing critical learning and developmental time. Women frequently miss work, which can lead to lost wages and further compound the cycle of poverty.
The Jewish Foundation of Memphis and Memphis Jewish Federation are partners in addressing this critical need in our community. As a Dignity Grows Chapter, we help community members get involved through education, volunteering, and sponsorship opportunities.
As a Dignity Grows Chapter, we provide menstrual products and hygiene supplies to girls and women in need so that they can fully participate in their daily activities. We do this by working with distribution partners such as Room In The Inn, Ridgeway High School, and the Tiger Pantry at the University of Memphis. Each reusable, zippered Dignity Grows Tote contains a month's supply of hygiene products including pads, pantiliner, soap, shampoo, deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and body wipes.
